Feb. 24 – Ice, Ice… Baby

Well it’s been a interesting week and a half in our neck of the woods….

East Tennessee weather is just flat out crazy. There’s an old saying that if you don’t like the weather….just wait 15 mins and it’ll change. It seems that Mother Nature has forgotten that we live in the south. Thanks something they call a “Arctic Blast” Most recently it’s been colder here than in parts of Alaska.

It all started with some record super low temps last Sunday.. then came the Ice Storm.  Ice is such a complete different animal and just a small about can wreck havoc on the many things we take for granted… Like electricity. When it was all said and done we were without power for 64 hours. Thankfully we were able to stay with family during our outage… What a blessing it was to have heat when so many didn’t. When we finally got out power restored we quickly found another problem. Frozen Water pipes… Again thankfully we were fortunate that they didn’t burst and once we thawed the effected area we had running water. After a week of all that mess we thought that we were done with the winter weather….

….Then we awokeIMG_3053.JPG

A good 4 inches fell last night after most of the weather experts just called for a light dusting.  Please don’t think I’m complaining though… We have a roof over our heads, we have heat, and we have water. I’m blessed with another day at home with my pregnant love of my life. Many times we are so wrapped up with our schedules and priorities that we overlook what we really do have. When things happen outside of our control we get stressed and annoyed that some of these things have inconvenienced us.  Sometimes we need a reminder and a good snow day…. or week. 🙂
